i'm trying to get RINFM to work on PSPRADIO, but can't seem to get it to work.

when i open up the pls, it displays this:
[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=1
File1=http://sc10.24server.com:5050/

i copy the url, and place it in my mixed playlist in the playlists folder in pspradio. When i try and play it in the program, it says, Error: Could not resolve host. what should i do?

EDIT: Alright, now it seems to be doing this for all of my playlist streams, except for one. It also has thi error for all of the streams in the SHOUTcast listing page of PSPradio. now I'm real pissed, what can I do?

Ctreat a new file called RINFM.pls in notepad and copy the following into it then save it to you PSP in the playlists folder and let me know if it works.

I tested it on mine and played fine on winamp (not tested on pspright now)
Code:

[playlist]
File1=http://sc10.24server.com:5050/
Title1=(( ( ( ( ( RINFM ) ) ) ) ))
Length1=-1
NumberOfEntries=1
Version=2

if you are using a playlist version 1 then you only need this in the playlist

Code:
http://sc10.24server.com:5050/

The problems you are having may very well have to do with the e-boot loader and not with the PSP. Please downgrade you PSP to FW1.5 and verify your problems if the problems do not occur then it is the e-boot if they do accour then set logging to all and captur your log file and post it here..

That will help us help you.

i really don't want to downgrade, as i like the web browser. I guess I'll just wait for the next EBOOT loader to improve stability, along with the ext PSPRADIO version that officialy supports FW2. Thanks though

FWIW,

I have been trying to get this station on PSPRadio fw version 1.5 for you.

I typed in the playlist

Code:

[playlist]
File1=http://sc10.24server.com:5050/
Title1=(( ( ( ( ( RINFM ) ) ) ) ))
Length1=-1
NumberOfEntries=1
Version=2

and saved it on the PSP.

I ran the playlist on the PSP through Winamp on my PC - and all worked fine.

I then ran it through PSPRadio - and got the usual error message. Shucks!

I ran it a few more times with greater error levels and came to the conclusion I did not like the trailing / in the url.

So I changed the playlist to

Code:
[playlist]
File1=http://sc10.24server.com:5050 ;
Title1=(( ( ( ( ( RINFM ) ) ) ) ))
Length1=-1
NumberOfEntries=1
Version=2

This worked fine on PSPRadio fw version 1.5.

Perhaps, eatSHROOMS, you could spare me the effort and edit your playlist likewise.

Please let me know if this cures the problem for you.

Sorry, HA, you can't blame everything on the EBOOT loader!

albadross

edit later : Confirmed working fine on PSPRadio fw 2.0

That is why I had asked him to downngrade to elimintte the Loader.

Besides If i can not get the end user to do what is needed to help test thier problem Then what do you want me to do?

I upgraded to 2.0 so that i could attemp to see all the problems these users were having and... Ohhh Forget it,.

Glag you tracked it down.

Intrestingly enough this was a problem in like ver 33 and had been corrected. Have you tested any other streams It should not matter unless the software has changed again.. (could happen)

Also I notice that under 2.0 I have many problems with the shoutcast stations if this has creapt back in then i wonder if that may be why a bunch of them do not play right..

Guess if we can prove and repeate this problem then we need a bug tracker on it..

SO you see the listing above it has the closing / on each of the lines they play under 2.0 and 1.5 (I downgraded to test) so what I see is that some stations do not like the slash

I pinged the host name to get the ip to test if it was a host name VS IP thing It was not

So I then took a few other streams and added the / to the end and Guess what they work

So it is not a PSP Radio thing as well because PSPRadio can handle streams with the ending slash.. but for some reson that one RIN stream hates the closing /

So with that said I wonder if PSP Radio just removed any Trailing /'s would it work in all enviroments.. and for all streams as the best I can tell is that the closin /'s are not needed but may cause a problem depending on the Shoutcast station used..

Im thinking the Bug tracker to correct this might be

Quote:
Please have PSPRadio remove closing /'s on any stream before it tries to open it or when you read them in and phrase them.. It is not needed and can cause repeatable problems on some streams.. as in

http://sc10.24server.com:5050/

that stream does not play unless the / is removed

There seems to me to be 2 - let me call them situations - although I do not really think of them as problems.

Parse errors

I think these have always been there occasionally. It is just that we are using the program more and more. Therefore, glitches are appearing more often.

Playlists

Going back to the beginning of my use of Winamp and PSPRadio, I made loads of playlists to save me the trouble of delving into the Shoutcast directory every time.

If my memory serves me well, I had endless trouble with the end of urls in my playlists.

- Some would require a / at the end, others wouldn't work with one

- Some would work with a ; comment at the end, others wouldn't

- Some needed a space at the end

- Some needed a carriage return at the end

In the end, I got a set that worked well enough for me.

Along comes Raf's Shoutcast database and the automatic finding of local MP3's and, of course, I was no longer using my own playlists so regularly.

And, surprise, surprise, a fair percentage of my playlists no longer work.

And they have produced a fair few errors I had not seen in PSPRadio before.

It might be tempting to think that the newer program versions had caused these problems.

But, I don't think that is the case.

I found that many radio stations had changed their streaming urls - leaving mine out-of-date.

I have changed a number of streamed urls and now, with the exception of a couple of little blighters, have got my playlists working again.

There seems to me to be 2 lessons to be learnt about writing your own playlists

1. Get the url syntax right (Try all the options I have suggested)

2. You must keep the url maintained (Check it against your PC Shoutcast database)

The fact that Shoutcast urls do change this often might also point out the need for ordinary PSPRadio shoutcast users to update their databases on a regular basis, if they start getting connection timeouts, etc.

If it would help, I am happy to publish some of my own playlists in the appropriate part of the forum. This might be of use to newcomers.

It was meant to be a joke about where the blame should lie. I should have used a smiley to indicate this.

I am not a great fan of smileys - some forums I frequent seem to think you need a full-length action film of smileys as a signature. But to show you we are friends, Cool

Ya i took it tounge in cheek...

At first I was like Crist here we go again damm that 2.0.. But i really got to thinking after you looked at it and started to play around..

So I wonder what it is (The trigger) that defines the end of line or if there is anyway to make one end of line..

On winamp they tend to pull from a database so if things change they are updated.. we do not quite have that lux.. So

Parse errors Raf had me open a Bug Tracker for this.. I actually had not seen it before.

As to thye playlists maybe a bit more work is in order. and seeing as this is related to 1.5 as well I will move this thread into the normanl problems thread..

See if we can do a bit more testing before we deam it a bug and track it..

Cool Thanks again and glad to see your back from the holidays..
