New stand alone and plugin release 1214, still based on links2.1-pre22

Please consider this release experimental

Get them here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=166538

What's New for Links2 PSP Port
================================

links-2.1pre22 PSP r1214 ( 2006-07-08 )
NEW FEATURES
(raf) Updates to pspgu driver:
-Default resolution is now 960x544 (Its scaled down to the PSP's 480x272)
-Links scaling is now disabled (as it used too much memory, and was one of the main culprits of memory errors)
-Font size changed from 12 to 24, so it is readable without zoom (at 960x544)
-Zoom (along with new virtual resolution of 960x544 implemented using a kind of double buffering).
(raf) New button mappings:
UP/DOWN = scroll up/scroll down (former R+UP/DOWN)
R+UP/DOWN = page up/page down
L (held) = zoom (while L is held). Use analog stick to move around.
L+CROSS = toggles zoom lock. (Once locked, the analog will control the mouse. Use L+analog to move zoom window).

Nice! I didn't have time to test it properly, but it's looking great.

A couple of things:
-You should set the menu font to 24 by default so that it's readable without zooming.
-The zoom with L button conflicts with the mode change in the keyboard (switch from letters to numbers also zooms). Not a big deal though, since when you start typing the zoom goes away.

I'll test it more later on, if I find anything nasty I'll let you know.

Yeah, even at 24 it's hard too read - I think the anti-aliasing settings may be out of wack.

Some bugs:
-in Bookmarks: pressing dpad up goes down, up does nothing. L and R are ok though.

Raf, I have had a quick go at both your last two releases :

Excuse me if I put my (very quick) comments for both together :

r1206 - Very Happy
I would rather have one big cursor than lots of little ones. Much cleaner.

r1214 - Crying or Very sad
The default font is impossible to work with. And when you zoom it up, it's so big you can't get all you want on the screen at the same time. Sorry.

The problem with the menu font at 24 is that it makes the menues too big and they don't fit on the screen anymore...

Yes, I need to fix the problem with danzef.

Thanks,

Raf.

There is no anti-aliasing yet. Sandberg will make it use the gu for accel/scaling, and it should look better then.

Raf.

The thing with the UP/DOWN is that in links, up/down are used for going to the prev/next link on the page. It makes more sense to move one page up/down in graphics mode, so I changed the D-pad function to use the page up/down. But now, the D-Pad cannot be used to navigate menus anymore.. It's a compromise.

Sorry to hear you didn't like 1214. I'm thinking I'll make it a configurable element. Unfortunately there's no way to change it once the driver/links is initialized, so I'll have to be something you configure in a cfg file.
Glad that you liked the new video driver, though.. I'm working to make it use 16bit color depth (instead of 32). This should save a lot of memory.

Thanks for the feedback!,

Raf.

Hey guys, Just tryin out hte new build( stand Alone). Werking great, downloads are alot smoother. One quick q. Any chance of moving the scrool to the left, where the wall is solid and menu with d-pad like last one? It's still Great though!
Easy connection, loads up quick. Zoom is a great feature, my eye's are not what they used to be, so it helps. People will enjoy this for sure. I use this and irshell to install games direct with just my psp. No More Computer, well the psp is a computer now. Shocked
Thanks Doobs!! Very Happy

Yes, it will look bad. The PSP's physical resolution is 480x272, so displaying something rendered at double the resolution WILL look bad.
The main problem I'm trying to fix is that with this new resolution, no scaling is required to render the page (by links). This scaling was one of the main causes of the memory shortage.
Then you can use the zoom function to actually look at what you want on the screen..

But I get it.. some ppl like it, some don't. So it'll be configurable for the next version.

Thanks all for the feedback!,

Raf.

Sorry guys,
I've had literally no free time lately.. I have a bunch of things on hold. Hopefully will get some more free time in the future.
I'll let you know of any news.

Thanks,

Raf.
